"'We had an absolutely phenomenal response to our casting call so our thanks to all those who came along to audition. We saw so many wonderful actors and it has taken more time than usual to see everyone and find just the right team. But our patience has paid off and we're thrilled to have finally found our fantastic four! We're really happy to introduce them to you today and look forward to starting work on this exciting and challenging play'.
So, here they are...
Born and bred in Hong Kong, Molly Campbell received training in physical theatre (with Zen Zen Zo) and naturalism (with the late Richard Griffiths) along with other touring National Theatre actors. She moved to the UK in 2009 to further her performance career. Studying Modern Theatre at Brunel University, she has worked with many contemporary theatre companies all over London and Wiltshire. She is proud to be a part of Whole Hog Productions with Pugilist Specialist and hopes to bring a dominant performance to a very powerful script. Her most recent credits include the following: Abigail Williams The Crucible; Juliet Romeo and Juliet; Cate Blasted; Mairead The Lieutenant of Inishmore; Barbara The God’s Weep; Sarah 4:48 Psychosis; . She is about to perform at the Rondo Theatre in Bath as a puppeteer with Reindeer On The Roof and is currently preparing for a tour with Moondog Productions playing Anne Frank And Then They Came For Me. In the new Year, she is also directing Liam Borrett’s This Is Living & Zoe Smith’s Breaking Point. Not to mention co-producing the Swindon Fringe Festival running from 1st – 9th April 2017. If she gets a spare moment from working, Molly enjoys knitting, cycling and watching the NFL.
Ashley is an actor and film buff from Swindon. Having studied GCSE drama at school many years ago, Ashley lost sight of his acting dream as he felt it was unobtainable. His attention turned to entirely different pursuits. Fast forward nearly 20 years and Ashley has rediscovered his love for acting and couldn’t be happier with both his involvement and his development. In a relatively short period of time he has worked with a number of young, independent filmmakers; most notably, being part of the cast for independent film Follow The Crows which is currently in post production. He is a keen theatre performer with both Gatecrash and Chocolate Theatre. He's had a busy 2016 playing a range of pivotal characters in theatre productions such as Rock of Ages, The Crucible, And Then There Were None, The Wroughton Passion Play and has just completed Spamalot at Swindon's Art Centre.
Playing Col.Johns in Pugilist Specialist represents an entirely new challenge, something Ashley relishes. Playing the role of Col.Johns is not only realising an ambition of Ashley's to play a military leader, but also to be part of a project that will be performing in a variety of locations outside of Swindon. This is a very unique opportunity for Ashley who is excited and eager to bring life to the character.
Ross Scott: studying acting at the University of Sunderland. Some of his Main credits are John Merrick in the Bradfordians productions of The Elephant Man, Lear in University of Sunderland's production of King Lear. Katurain Katurain in Tic Tac Toe's production of The Pillowman and Nick Bottom in Atlas Theatre Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream adaptation Bottom's Dream. Ross is very excited to be working with Whole Hog and ready to sink his teeth into rehearsals. "I'm thrilled to be working with a company that's inspired to try new works like Pugilist Specialist; and that meets my drive to strive for the art." In his spare time Ross enjoys Rugby, weightlifting and Martial Arts.
Liam is an actor and director currently living in Bath. His recent theatre credits include the South West tour of Mice on Skates along with Exquisite Folly's Ginger & the Alien performed at The Egg.
Looking to expand his horizons, Liam has recently been involved with several short films and launched his own theatre company, Hodgepodge Theatre. The company's initial offering The Homeless Panda, which was directed by Liam, was met with a warm reception on it's initial run at The Rondo Theatre, ahead of a Spring 2017 tour and Liam has recently directed the company's second show Reindeer on the roof!. Pugilist Specialist marks another change in pace which Liam is looking forward to exploring through the role of Lt. Studdard.
