Welcome to the Whole Hog Website!
Whole Hog Productions was founded in late 2008 by four local actors & directors who had worked with each other in various Theatre Companies between 1990-2001. Matthew Clift, Ryan Gilks, Phil Regan and Steve Sprosson last worked together on a production of Harold Pinter's 'The Homecoming'. There was a certain line in the production Ryan always struggled with and stumbled over ("Go the Whole Hog, not the Half Hog"). So, a new company was born!
Whole Hog's debut production was a new absurdist comedy, "Directions" written by local historian, Chris Scott. The production was entered for the 2009 Harold Jollifee One Act Play Festival staged annually at the Arts Centre in Swindon. "Directions" won the festival as well as the best actor and best supporting actor prizes. It eventually reached the All England Theatre Festival Final where it picked up the adjudicators award.
Since then Whole Hog have staged further One Act and Full Length Plays which have accumalated over 30 awards at various drama festivals, mainly specialising in new theatre writing.
