Whole Hog last performed in early July and won’t be back onstage until the end of October so a lot of inactivity and a big rest! Maybe summer shows should be something we should be doing but with people away throughout July and August audiences (and actors!) might be a bit scarce? Depends where you perform I guess. Edinburgh would obviously be great but that needs to be booked up the Easter before and a lot of money given…which we don’t
have!
So, lots of time to gear up for our rehearsals which begin in September when we start on our Halloween project, ‘Asylum’. Adapted from the 1970’s horror film it will be a mixture of scary and hilarious moments as we ‘spoof’ the world of Hammer House of Horror. The recent Steve Coogan season on UK Gold has included his wonderful series ‘Dr. Terrible’s House of Horrible’ so that has given us a lot of inspiration on how best to ‘send up’ the horror genre. That’s not to say here won’t be gruesome scenes, we still want to give the audience a bit of a fright amongst the laughs.
The casting is 90% done just one or two other roles to be found then into rehearsals where the fun begins… (Cue thunder and lighting and creepy music)
