The production is made up of Whole Hog members old and new. Fenella Harrop directs the play, her second for Whole Hog since staging David Mamet's 'Oleanna' for a student audience last September. Playing Charlotte Bronte is Becky Cann who previously appeared in another Polly Teale Bronte adaptation for Whole Hog, 'Jane Eyre' where she played the title role. Also returning to 'Bronte-world' is Bristol based actress, Stefanie Hadley who also appeared in Whole Hog's 2012 staging of 'Jane Eyre'. This time she plays Emily Bronte. The third sister, Ann is played by New College Performing Arts student, Rosie Walker. Another New College Performing Arts student, Freya Brain appears as the Bronte sister's creations, Cathy and Bertha. James Tayler also appears as some the sisters' most famous characters as well as their troubled brother, Branwell Bronte. Completing the cast is Whole Hog co-founder, Phil Regan who plays the Bronte's father, Patrick. Phil directed the company's debut production 'Directions' back in 2009 and was last seen as Dogberry in Whole Hog's 2014 staging of 'Much Ado About Nothing'. The Backstagers, alongside Fenella, are Technical Manager extraordinaire, Dominic Bray and Super Stage Manager, Kate Spratley!
This week is the 169th anniversary of the publication of 'Jane Eyre' so a perfect opportunity to get lost in the world of the Bronte's.
