Whole Hog return from the AETF western semi final with opinions
divided but audiences delighted! Unfortunately, we didn’t advance forward onto the final but had the opportunity to perform on a wonderful stage, the Redgrave Theatre in Bristol. The theatre is part of Clifton College (which looks a lot likeHogwarts!) and is an amazing 300 seat semi-thrust stage that also has a great intimacy to it.
The performance of ‘Henry Gladstone’ was as good as ever. Steve
and Becky rose to the challenge of a bigger space and gave another great
performance. The adjudicator had a few ‘issues’ with interpretation and the
play itself but that’s festivals for you. As Chris Jaeger (the adjudicator)
said in his summing up “It’s all about interpretation and opinion”. However,
the audiences raved and stopped both actors many times to tell them how
impressed and moved they were with the relationship between the old thesp and the young SM!
Onto the Wallingford and Abingdon festivals next month and another
chance to perform again and, hopefully, reach a new audience with our
work. Onwards and upwards!
